Happy October! We wanted to take this cool and cloudy fall afternoon to catch you up on our adoption progress.  The biggest question we've been getting is, "So when is your little boy coming home?"  We'll try to answer that as effectively as possible.

 
In case you missed our last update, we (finally!) got on the waiting list this summer.  This was immensely exciting, and while it’s difficult to say just how long the wait will be, we’re hoping it won’t take long.

So what's next?  The waiting game.  The list works like this: our agency here in Colorado has a care center over in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.  As kids come in to the care center they match them with a waiting family.  We're on the waiting list for a baby boy under 12 months old.  Sometime soon we'll get an email with a picture of him!

We're busy while we wait, however.  The paperwork goes on and on, and we're at the point now where some of our original paperwork needs to be updated, fingerprints re-taken, etc.  (An aside - I'm pretty sure our fingerprints haven't changed...umm, I really don't why we need to get them taken again.)

Once we do get our referral for a matched child there is (surprise!) some more paperwork, and then we'll fly to Ethiopia to meet him face to face!  We don't get to bring him home at that point - we'll have some court and embassy interviews and come home.  THEN after all the final approvals we get to go back and pick him up!

So when will that be?  We'd like to ask you to pray with us that these final stages of our adoption journey will be described as nothing less than miraculous.  Though the waiting time is a huge unknown, we're believing that God wants to bring our little Immanuel home sooner rather than later.  Will you pray with us that we can bring him home by April 2014?  This could only happen by the hand of God pushing everything through.
